Financial Resources for Cancer Patients and their Families.
After six months of chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant in 2019, I realized the financial burden that came along with this was greater than I thought. I had to quit my job, and my wife had to take an extensive amount of time off from her work.
I was fortunate I was able to obtain several grants to help us over the financial hump. The grants were there but it took some time to find them.
In an effort to help pay it forward, I have compiled a listing of available grants for financial assistance that could help out cancer patients and
their families. Just click the List of Foundations on the site's header and download the excel spreadsheet(s) you need. The grants are listed by national and state, then the types of cancer they fund.
.
As you go through the list, please keep in mind a couple of things:
• I will be updating the list regularly, so if you don't see something immediately, check back to download the updates.
• Some of the grants are very specific. I did not list any of the specifics, only the state they fund in and the type of cancer they will provide assistance for.
• I can't guarantee that the fund is still active at the time you request funding.
• Most applications are very easy to complete!
As you look through the foundations you will see a category named “General”. These foundations fund any type of cancer OR any type of medical issues you may have which includes cancer.
Your oncologist team may have additional resources that are not listed here. Make sure you check with them also.
Recently I came across Nancy’s List, ( https://nancyslist.org ) a comprehensive listing of not only financial resources, but
other resources to help you get through these tough times.
If you know of a Foundation that is not listed, please send it along by clicking Add a Foundation in the header, and I will add it to the listing.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me: dunger18@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
I hope this grant listing helps you out and takes some of the stress out of what you are going through.
Best,
David Unger
